Review on Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f1.8 (Silver) Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras - International Version: Enhanced Photography Experience, No Warranty by Hideo Tsushi ᠌

A really necessary purchase, Im glad I found this product.

Fine glass. After filming on whale glass, you will be very surprised at the quality of the photos. Light - aperture 1.8 allows you to shoot almost at night and get great shots. In terms of focal length - a typical portrait, on the Micro 4/3 system its real FR = 90 mm. It is difficult to call it universal - you are tormented by running so that everything you need gets into the frame. For a system with a matrix crop factor of 2, it is more logical to take as a universal fix with a FR of 17-25 mm. Expensive, like all glasses for this system. It is sad that for this price there is nothing in the kit, except for the lens. The lens hood is a piece of plastic with a real value of three kopecks. But they also offer to buy it separately for 2 thousand (for the original) - the harsh marketing of the Olympus office. When shooting on an open hole, it gives excellent bokeh, and during the day in the bright sun you have to noticeably cover it, because there is too much light, but a lot is not enough, you can always cover it. I had a 14-42 whale lens, for which I bought a filter and a non-original JJC hood for 500 - everything fit perfectly on this glass, the diameters and mounts match. Bottom line - as a portrait lens is very good. But if you buy with the last money - better take 2 Sigma lenses for 30 and 19 mm - you will get as many as 2 fixes, albeit with a slightly lower aperture of 2.8. If you are not constrained in the means - a must-have. But it should be understood that it is not suitable as a "staff-universal", the angle is too narrow - remember that the glass FR is written on the box, the real FR depends on the matrix and on the Micro 4/3 system it turns out 90mm. And yet - there is no stabilizer built into the lens. But it is in Olympus carcasses, but in Panasonic there is no built-in stub. Keep this in mind when looking for a similar glass for Panasonic. : after a few years, I still use this glass. there is no alternative to him among the “budgets” not from the Pro series. Olympus periodically holds promotions, discounting glass prices by 2-3 times, now he is building 13 thousand for a new one - very profitable, with the current exchange rate.

Pros
  • Very light Very sharp Beautiful Compact Comfortable in using Metal bayonet
Cons
  • Focal length is not very versatile Expensive It's hard to find a filter (life hack - fits from whale M. Zuiko 14-42) There is nothing in the kit (life hack 2 - the lens hood fits from the whale M. Zuiko 14-42, not the original costs around 500)
