Review on Trimmer Woodworking Sealing Trimming Scraper by June Reeves

Cool concept, just doesn't work

The blade does not withstand the load and jams the first time. The angle of attack is too high and it slices into the corner where you start the cut and destroys it. The blade's brass stop screw is too long and will ruin your work. Besides that, well there isn't any other, it just doesn't work. Blade out of the box does not cut anything. This is not surprising given the size of the burr on the edge and the fact that there was still mill scale on the underside of the blade. It's not uncommon for woodworking tools to need tuning, so I sharpened the blade like my Japanese chisels, and in about an hour it had a sharp blade, at least as sharp as needed. Unfortunately the blade is not massive. enough to withstand the strain, and after the first cut the cutting edge became completely indistinct. Only the first .020 inch or so is like a soft blade but useless for cutting. The blade just isn't steel. edge. I couldn't start the hem without her biting off the corner. In the middle of the cut, the movement is rough, the chips come out in segments rather than a smooth bend. This is difficult to control and leaves a jagged edge. I blame it on the thickness of the blade, which carries the chips away from the cut within a few millimeters after the bevel rises. It makes sense to me why other edge banders use a thin blade, somewhere between the thickness of a razor blade and a general-purpose blade. The icing on the cake is the brass screw that secures the blade, pierces through it, and scratches the face you slide the tool across . make something good out of it later, but for the time being it's absolutely useless for the intended purpose. The people who made it never tried to use it.
