Review on Koh I Noor Mechanical Pastel Holder Pastels by Doris Tran

It was like riding a unicycle

I tried using the chalk without the holder. It was like riding a unicycle; sloppy results, broken parts, physical pain. I've tried plastic. More like Yugo; slightly better results for a short time before each of them deteriorated towards an untimely but inevitable demise. I tried the Charles Leonard metal one. More like Kia or Hyundai; reliable but unsatisfactory, stylish or particularly comfortable for a tall American. I tried the Stikkiworks Deluxe Chalk Holder-Keeper. Very good, almost like a Buick; beautiful, very comfortable in the hand and as far as I can tell durable (after a few months of use the chalk hasn't started slipping in one yet). Score for a sticky label attached to a glue stick that cannot be removed. Big, stylish, incredibly durable and, judging by the external quality of construction, undoubtedly indestructible. I plan to buy a few more and keep one in the safe so I always know I have one in reserve. Yes, I'm serious. They are always in short supply and at one point Revain canceled my order due to a shortage. I will NOT teach without him ever again. Follow up - after years of daily use and abuse by me and my students, one finally broke. I'm glad I have a backup. Buy at least TWO!
