The original blade on my Makita circular saw gave me trouble cutting 5/4 thick white oak. The cut came out at an angle and the bottom end deviated from the saw by 3-5 degrees. (Yes, I made sure the blade was perpendicular to the bottom plate). I got the same results even after making the same cut with several smaller passes. I removed the blade, cleaned it until the teeth gleamed, then put it back in. It was a little better, but it still burned the edges and made me cut at an angle. It was incredibly frustrating to get such poor results with a blade that still felt "sticky" sharp. After a long search I decided on this knife. I knew that the kerf was wider than the original blade and that the saw could work harder and battery life would suffer, but I was hoping that the saw plate would be stiffer and hopefully eliminate blade drift in thicker hardwoods. That's exactly what happened! The wood in the photos is 5/4 ribbed white oak. I cut in two passes. No burning and 90 degree edges that are so smooth I couldn't believe it. Now this is my choice and I highly recommend it.
