This is what my physical therapist uses and before my forth ankle surgery advised me to get one since swelling will always be an issue for me. This product worked great after surgery when I had splint and then cast as I could adjust the velcro on the bottom of foot to make it fit. It worked better the ice since ice melts. It did take a while to feel the cold and not as cold as when there is no cast/splint, but made a difference in my swelling. My doctor was shocked when we had to replace cast, he said for the type of surgery that I had the swelling should be much worse. I have the elasto-gel for the ankle which is great for the pain but does not provide the compression that I will need to help deal with the swelling. After I use this the pain and swelling are greatly dismissed. This is a must for anyone who deals with ankle swelling or having surgery. I just wish my physical therapist would have recommended that I got one sooner.
