These stones are very beautiful but not polished to a high shine, they are waxed to a high shine. I bought these to use in a small fountain and the wax on the rocks was a problem. I had to wash the stones and I have to run clean water through the pump several times to remove the wax that has turned into scale. The seller must explain that these stones are not naturally shiny, they are just naturally smooth. I think using it as a vase fill will cause the same problem as using it in a fountain. I would buy them again but wouldn't use them again without first washing off the wax.
