It is important to remove or identify your old filter before purchasing a new one. Many different 16x25x4 filters are available, but actual size will vary and many will not fit. This filter is actually 15 1/2" x 24 1/2" x 3 3/4" and fits snugly in place but takes up very little space. A few years ago I bought another brand of 16 x 25 x 4....and it was 4 1/2" wide and wouldn't fit in the slot. So the error rate is very low. I like the MERV rating of 11. It doesn't overheat or start the oven but still Catches a lot of dust and harmful bacteria, mites and pet dander a hassle 13 may suit you I'm happy with these 11 for only $77 with taxes and free shipping (less than $13 each) I change them twice a year The design is beautiful and somewhat unique Zigzag pleat pattern wrapped metal cross. They are durable. Also, the Merv rating of 11 is stamped on the outside of the filter. I compared 8 from another brand and this one seems thicker :)
