My wife and I were planning a big trip and decided on a Garmin 850 after researching various GPS navigators online. This device belongs to GOD - the best $250 we've ever spent! We loved how he took us to places that we would definitely get lost if we found them. The ability to use Google Maps to "send" the data was amazing, and the voice recognition was amazing (not perfect, but pretty damn close). Despite what I've read in some of the other reviews, the 850 gives you fair warnings about the next left-right turn, and while there's no 'lane assist', it does give you the 'advice' to steer clear of some 'left or keep right". Odd exits from freeways/intersections/pedestrians/etc. A few disappointments (hence 4 stars instead of 5): We ran out of battery in less than 2 hours despite being rated a 4 (have yet to contact Garmin on this - I may have had a defective one - I've taken all their advice on charging etc . followed). The other is an odd on/off switch - it certainly could have been better designed. Other than that, it's just amazing - I don't know how we didn't buy it sooner! And now that the prices of this device are less than half of what they were about a year ago, it's a striking deal.
