It needs to be held and then attached to any tripod mount I use and that threaded mount needs to be in a central spot no matter how it's used, no matter what width I choose to grip, that tripod attachment point will be centered or at least be adjustable, like this one, within reason. I show it in pictures and it's important. This was a major hurdle for an aluminum tablet holder in this price range - I returned it as this tripod mount had the entire device off center and even more off center when it was extended. This tablet holder doesn't do that when you open it the same way from top to bottom - this design feature makes this holder unbeatable as it closes very compactly when not in use and wedges in many different sizes. tablets and mobile devices. I am very very happy with this item, it is well made, very clean and well thought out. I have a feeling this could be improved and it looks like the manufacturer has that in mind as the indentations on the bottom and top where the clamping is done could potentially be cut out for cable routing. I am using this with an Asus tablet which has the power/volume buttons +/- on the side and the data and audio ports on top - I use this tablet with one of my camera drones which keeps the mounting point in the center regardless the opening width is a specific and important part of the design. I'm excited about this device, but it would be a bit much if the padded areas where your device sits are open in the middle, not obstructing an area where the tablet could have controls and ports. However, it's still the BEST aluminum tablet mount ever.
