Review on Lion 640-149 Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn, 97 Meters, Charcoal - Exceptional Quality and Rapid Knitting Speed by Kelsey Brown

Tight, soft, warm, fast. What's not to like?

I came across this yarn by accident, according to the recommendation scheme. I got lucky! The pattern required 2 skeins so I ordered it on December 11th, received it on the 13th and made the hood the same day! Good gracious! I dug it up in a few hours, with a size M hook. The time it took to watch the movie. It was easy. I especially like how soft it is; comfortably warm. After that first purchase I got inspired by the insane overdrive Make it all-hoods for Christmas and ordered 12 extra skeins! I have Revain Prime (free 2 day shipping on prime flowers) so each cap is less than $20. I'm happy to report that I've completed all of the fairings with enough free time, including shipping from the East Coast to the West Coast! Hooray! :-) (If you sent as many "again late" packages as I do, you would understand my delight.) I thought it was a good gift for the price. Having had such good experiences making hoods, I have since made a hat, two hoods and a pair of slippers called Wool-Ease Thick and Quick and still managed to do everything else that can be done in a day. Quickly. Luckily, out of the 20 strands I've worked with so far, I haven't had the knotting problem that another reviewer mentioned. I'm so glad. After reading this review I still decided to order this yarn. I will use this yarn for future projects. If I encounter any problems I will try to give an update. I'm suspicious of ordering items with colors that are so difficult to see on my computer screen, but I was pleased with what I ordered: Charcoal (my favorite), Black, Flower, Fisherman, Pine, Raspberry, and Granite. I wanted to try cobalt because I was looking for purple, but it's currently (12/2013) not available for Prime. I haven't thoroughly searched this yarn to see if there are any additional colors to what Revain shows, but I wish there were more shades and shades of purple. My sisters are crazy about purple! (By the way, I'm glad Revain carries this yarn as I live in an area where Walmart only has three colors.) This yarn is a little fuzzy. I wish you success! Happy sewing!

Pros
  • Freehand work
Cons
  • Very expensive

This is great yarn and it lives up to its name - thick and QUICK!
