As with most manual generators, the user creates a lot of power for a tiny amount of power. The most likely result is scraping your knuckles against the radio case. Radio reception on the AM band is very good, while on the FM band it's a bit poor. NOAA 5v5 signals are great. Selectivity AM is in no way inferior to the best transistor radios. I got this unit into a known radio dead zone, it passed solid AM and NOAA signals. The loss of reliable AM signals is a sure sign that the batteries need some sunlight.
