Type of review

As with most manual generators, the user creates a lot of power for a tiny amount of power. The most likely result is scraping your knuckles against the radio case. Radio reception on the AM band is very good, while on the FM band it's a bit poor. NOAA 5v5 signals are great. Selectivity AM is in no way inferior to the best transistor radios. I got this unit into a known radio dead zone, it passed solid AM and NOAA signals. The loss of reliable AM signals is a sure sign that the batteries need…

Pros
  • When it comes to practically useful devices, especially in emergencies, there aren't many things that compare to this multi-purpose AM/MOLEBIT VHF emergency radio with NOAA weather band and comparable are MP3 players. I have several of these emergency radios, one in each car. This one is the smallest of all brands, better than nothing but not something I want to have on hand in case of an emergency. First of all, the radio reception and sound is pretty terrible, even the NOAA band, which is the most important thing. They have a flashlight mode, but my other devices also have a bendable reading lamp. The charging mode for a typical phone is very slow, but again better than a completely dead battery. At this…

It was great until MP3 stopped working. twice.

UPDATE! My daughter played her radio for about 3 days and then the MP3 stopped working. So I sent it back and replaced it with the same one hoping it was just a defective accident. We played on the second radio for about a week and it just stopped playing. One second it worked, the next it wouldn't stop halfway through the song. I think it has to be more expensive. FM/AM still works. ORIGINAL REVIEW I bought this emergency radio for my daughter because I didn't want to spend too much on a…
