Review on πŸ”’ Black 2 Pack Master Lock 646T: Set Your Own Combination Luggage Lock by Gopal Baltimore

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I love these little things.

You can't beat the size-to-weight ratio. It's a handy lock for things you carry with you or need to open frequently: backpacks, child locks, or an extra layer of security for wrapped items. Quality: The best you can expect from a combination lock in this small form factor. (Spoiler alert: it's definitely not indestructible) I once took one off the road after being hit by heavy vehicle traffic for 24 hours and it continued to work fine for years to come. hacked without apparent intervention in minutes or less. It's great if you forget the combination but don't use it to protect something unattended for a significant amount of time. It might deter pickpockets, kids, and critters from your backpack, but that's about it. In addition, the shell has a fully open, non-welded seam. You may want to seal this. Travel: suitable for hand luggage. Not recommended for checked baggage. If the TSA lifts the ban, the $5 to $9 retail price isn't even worth a claim for damages. (Consider it a plus or minus) Note: Outer shell varies. This is either Chinese cast zinc with a question mark or brass. (You will find that most manufacturer/dealer descriptions are vague on this point.)

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Good, but not perfect
