Review on 🧡 Bernette b77 - Bernette's Leading Dealer - Premier Sew & Vac by Kelsey Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent sewing technique but no it does NOT have automatic thread tension

I bought a Bernette b77 to replace my Brother ST371HD. I didn't want to switch brands as it would mean learning a new machine and process, but I just outgrew Brother and wanted something nicer and more versatile. The Bernette b77 definitely goes with it. Due to its characteristics, the b77 is quite practical. The only thing it doesn't have that I had in my wish list is the automatic thread tension. There were several other machines I looked at in this price range that had this feature but lacked some of the features that this machine has. The programmable foot pedal, the large working area and all the settings and functions make this machine a dream. I find the display quite intuitive, although I had to google a bit as I've never used a Bernette or Bernina machine. I love the automatic thread cutting and all the fun stitches. I love that I can adjust the top speed and the dual feed makes layering that much easier! Threading the needle is pretty cool too and definitely easier than on my previous machines. My only real complaint is that the reinforcement stitching doesn't secure well. I still have to sew at the beginning and end if I want to be sure the seam stays intact (some of my stitches that I didn't sew started unraveling so I had to go back and fix them). Since I'm used to it, it's not that hard anyway. I have completed my first project on my new b77 and am very happy with the result. I am definitely satisfied with my purchase. ** Talking to another reviewer, she didn't mention the thread tension setting I was talking about. Some machines automatically adjust the thread tension based on the thickness of the fabric being sewn. This machine, as beautiful as it is, doesn't. The setting mentioned by another reviewer is the default thread tension. Having read the manual when I bought the machine I also know how to program the latch and that's exactly what I did before using the machine. My projects need strong stitches and a sure stitch just isn't strong enough. Your mileage may vary.
