Inconsistent zero on calipers

Not sure how this gets such high marks unless I have a bad one. The quality seems good, but I don't get a stable zero - it changes to 0.020 inches. If I was happy with that level of accuracy, I would use a ruler. the dial rotates. The design appears to be fundamentally flawed, with the inch dial and metric dial rotating at different speeds. There's no way to sync them to zero, even if null was constant - you could just null it for one or the other, not both, if only they were out of sync when the caliper was at zero. I already had a digital caliper but I don't like how quickly the batteries die. and this one is flawless.Following this product's failure, I have decided to purchase this 150mm caliper, accurate to 0.02mm x 150mm, made of hardened stainless steel for MDC-6 internal, external, step and depth measurements to buy and it works much better for my purposes.
