Review on ACDelco 540 620 Original Equipment Monotube by Brian Gordon

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worked great for two days.

I put a pair of these on the front of my Silverado because it's an OEM replacement for the Z83 suspension (and also an OEM replacement for the Z85 suspension, by the way). This requires the use of a spring compressor. All in all, if you really take the time to use a torque wrench everywhere, you'll get about three hours per side. It's easy work, just hard work. And be careful with this spring compressor. Fast forward two days: I'm going over a speed bump (at a reasonable speed) and I hear a noise. After doing a bumper failure test, I found that a brand new strut that had been in use for two days had died. Completely shot. When I removed the tire I saw strut fluid all over the forearm. There were no signs of physical injury when the shock was installed. It looked perfect. After the store I bought it from gave a guarantee, I had to change it again tonight in the dark for 3 hours. homeless person Also, that warranty dampener failed after one day, so I had to replace THIS one too. So, the driver's side of my truck has strike three. I usually have good luck with Delco OEM. This shock, which I believe was made by Tenneco, was an exception. I don't know what quality control they have there. Though I'm sure you'll be fine.
