A nice idea stands in the way of bad design/quality

I really wanted to like this thing, I loved it. The size of the thing is very cute and I could easily imagine taking it with me everywhere. But given the issues it has, I don't recommend it to anyone. At first, the description of this product was confusing. One place says it has a 3.5 inch screen (which is what I thought I would get) and another says it has a 2 inch screen (which is what I got). The small screen is suitable for most games. But those that contain a lot of text cannot be read. It also makes it harder to navigate and find games in Recalbox (gamepi has its own customized Recalbox image that you can download). This is a bit annoying as the configuration files can be adjusted to fix the Recalbox menu, but it doesn't help in games. When I received this item, the battery was ripped off the motherboard (see my photo). Another minor annoyance because I might solder back. My biggest issue with this thing, however, is the buttons. They really suck. I knew it would be annoying not having a proper d-pad, but I was fine with that. The keys are sooo soft and flat (barely going beyond the faceplate). They are just awful and ruin my experience. I have a 3D printer and am planning to create some new buttons for it that will hopefully improve the controls a bit. Also, the letters and directional arrows rotate as you use them, which is even more annoying. Finally, it may be more suitable for children. I just can't imagine trying to play games on it (with no improvements). I would save your money and buy something better. I would like it.
