First, Marv Golden is the best manufacturer of aerospace products. The headset was delivered within a day and a half. As for the headset itself, a bit of context: I'm a new Airbus pilot and retired from the military 7 months ago. Thanks to army helicopters, I don't have the best hearing. I used the ship's headsets (telex) but kept trying to take radio calls. I skipped them at times and really had to focus on what was being said in order to understand and obey. Above 18,000, as per the status quo, I removed my headset and used a handheld mic and speaker. I could hear it normally, but I had to turn the speaker up a little. As I climbed up and down, I kept adjusting the volume to get the right mix of intercom and ATC. And after a long day of flying, my already bad tinnitus was getting a whole lot worse and I felt like I had an audible fatigue - a term I just made up, but I'm sure you get the gist of it. I did too much research to find a good headset - I couldn't decide between the Bose Proflight 2 and the DC Pro X2. My friend, also an Airbus pilot, uses Proflight and loves it. I tried them on, and while the earbuds' design felt comfortable, the headset strap that pressed against my head wasn't ideal. I tried on the Pro X2 and found it much more comfortable, so I bought it. First, it's really very convenient. The cups are very soft, the headband fits perfectly. The noise cancellation is exactly what I was looking for - it's what Airbus needs. At Telex I turned the volume almost all the way up. At least I have them on the Pro X2, and sometimes I even have to turn the volume down a notch on the headset itself. Not only do I never miss a radio call if my fellow flyer doesn't have their own headset, I also often explain the dispatcher's instructions to them. This is a find. I'll never have to fiddle with finding the right combination of intercom and radio volume ever again. The case is perfect too - it takes me a few seconds to grab the headset and slip it into my flight bag when I land to take the crew van to the hotel. I also found the noise-cancellation wasn't strong enough that I couldn't hear what the cockpit ramp was telling me before towing. It even works well if your pilot turns off the headset above 18k, as long as he doesn't crank the speaker up too much. I don't find I have to remove an earbud to talk or anything like that - it's really not a problem. The headset is amazing! There is one tragic flaw which unfortunately you will hear in other reviews. The ear pads rotate freely. As a result, no matter how tightly you hold it on your head, the headset will always rotate back and forth with your head when you look up and down. It rarely really comes off, but it always feels like it's about to kick off. Because of this, I was constantly trying to find a sweet spot where they wouldn't move, which I have yet to achieve. I'm sure there's a way to tweak the headset to stop this, but it's annoying having to do something like this with expensive hardware right out of the box. I'm still glad I made that purchase and didn't get Proflight. That looks like someone must have noticed something while testing. I know from other reviews that I am not the first to have this complaint/problem. I wrote David Clark a letter to ask them about it, but they never replied. However, this review was written during the COVID crisis and this might be the reason.
