I bought a pack of 4 of these cartridges. The first cartridge worked after installation. But when I then tried to update the printer firmware, the printer no longer recognized the cartridge. Nothing I've done (reinstalling the cartridge, cleaning the contacts, cleaning the corona line) hasn't helped. I opened the second cartridge from the pack and it didn't work either. So I went back to the last (used up) non-Brother compatible cartridge I used in the car. He was recognized. Lesson Learned: Don't update your printer's firmware. Brother shouldn't want this manufacturer to sell cartridges for their machines.
