I used a polyurethane filter for a few years because I didn't know anything better. That's when I found out about Clear2o and have never regretted it. This is head and shoulders above the PUR device. Here are some of the ways: It filters out pollutants like lead that polyurethane cannot come into contact with. It filters under pressure so the reservoir fills up in about a minute - no more standing and wondering if the filter is clogged. Polyurethane filters clog for no apparent reason other than poor design. Clear2o filters don't. When a polyurethane filter needs to be replaced can only be guessed at based on its age; These filters have a clear indicator, WATER METER BASED, that now shows how much water has passed through. The pitcher actually pours like a well designed pitcher; The dainty little faucet on the PUR jug is clumsy, slow, and a pathetic attempt at being smart. Overall, the Clear2o system is probably more expensive, but I will not compare the cost of a filter that works with a filter that barely does its job.
