After reading so many negative reviews about this brush without bristles, I decided to buy this set which included brushes of both types. I've used a brush without bristles a few times so far. I heat and clean my grill before grilling and have used this brush (without water) a number of times now. You REALLY need to use a little more pressure and muscle when cleaning grates. I clean 25 year old Weber stainless steel grates so I don't expect them to sparkle and shine like new. I've been using wire brushes from the hardware store for years and they don't look like new anymore, I can live with that. What I see are clean grills, no burned food or grease. I can't comment on the bristle brush as I haven't used it yet. The handle unscrews to switch between brushes and feels solid enough. I would recommend it.
