I've been seeing this trend on TikTok for a long time. I remember people using socks and towels to curl their hair without heat so it was only a matter of time before someone invented such a device! Surprisingly, it works very well and is actually handy! I created an express version. My hair is difficult to curl, but I remember when I was a child my mother braided my wet hair, which resulted in small wavy curls the next morning. I used this on slightly damp hair (air dried at around 75%) after my morning shower. I can only imagine how amazing it would look if my hair was wetter and I let it dry overnight! The instructions say to braid your hair and then wrap it. I decided to take strands and twist them, then take another small strand and keep twisting, repeating the process to the end (similar to French braiding hair but just take new sections and twist). I'll have to try braiding next time, but my hair is layered and only shoulder length... So I don't think I can do a very good braid. Turning on both sides only took a few minutes. The ends of the curlers were hanging very far, so I twisted them into elastics so they formed little "buns" at the bottom. See photo! It was really comfortable to wear and lightweight. Since I'm so nervous I decided to use a blow dryer on low heat to speed up the process. It worked! Used curlers for about an hour and the result was big, bouncy, shiny curls and waves! Next time I'll try it in the evening and make my hair a little damper. I'll also try to tighten the curl by wrapping it tighter. I just bought a perm cream that can make my hair even shinier and keep my curls even longer. Wearing a shower cap on my hair also keeps it from loosening overnight. All in all I love it! My curls lasted most of the day, even after styling. If you have long hair, this will greatly reduce your curling time (minus the wait time to dry...). Highly recommended!
