We bought this coffee maker in 2010 for our parents. It came with a charcoal filter and a recommendation to change it every few cups of coffee or every few months, six I think. Regardless, over time I've thought about this filter while shopping at Revain and read many reviews, some saying good things about them and others saying they didn't notice a difference. Still I decided to buy it and put a new one in, neither my parents nor I could tell much of a difference between a two year old filter and a new one. Cusinart's engineers pointed the finger at us for not complying with the request. However, we aim to keep their consumables moving post-sale, however we will only do this once a year.
