It's nice and luxurious but I wouldn't put it in a high traffic area. If there's a stain, I'll take it to the cleaners. I had one that I hand washed in cold water with a medium detergent and it hardly looked dirty and the water came out black all 3 times I washed it until the water ran clear. I washed and washed and washed. Then the excess water had to be drained. Then I had to take it outside to dry flat on a balcony board for two days. It looked like a bad shepherd dog. I had to buy a boar comb to make it a little fluffy again, but it NEVER looked the same as it did when I first bought it. I just bought another one and gave it to the Salvation Army Shepherds. It was a smaller rug than this one and my cat vomited on this one so I had to clean it (I was unhappy) and the stain doesn't look that good but I can hide it. I have a very large authentic and it only goes to bed during the day. I don't risk anything.
