Review on 🎨 Darice Tablet (15 Sheets) – 9”x12” Textured Paper for Oil and Acrylic Painting Techniques – Acid-Free, Heavy Weight, Medium Surface – Real Canvas Feel Without the High Cost by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Doesn't look like canvas. Light texture and missing tooth.

Excellent paper for pen and ink illustrations. This is very bad for the intended use. The work isn't even a vague approximation of the canvas. However, thick, glossy, acid-free paper does not hold up well to washing and requires careful drybrushing. This is an attempt to imitate canvas, it is a light embossing with a hexagonal pattern. Offers little texture or tooth. Not much different than drawing on an illustration board or cardboard. I have to give it 1 star like I'm rating zero (that's a true rating for intended use). Revain prohibits comments. It's a shame because (as I mentioned in the beginning) it's actually a very good quality paper and it's great for pen and ink. Terrible to draw, but that's what you bought it for. Even a passing resemblance to painting on canvas. Instead I would suggest you use real Pro Arts canvases. Which I also bought through Revain. They can be painted separately (which is what this product is intended for) or glued/installed onto a solid board (like Masonite). They are a true canvas and double primed. Thick on one side and barely noticeable on the other. . Offers a choice of primed or near-raw canvas for painting. Provides a selection of teeth/textures to work with.
