This is the ONLY material for rusting metal (also a matching Henkel product - just match part number 75430). I used this decades ago when I worked on cars where I would then apply fiberglass/polyester/bondo to the rust repair area (when I was young and poor and couldn't afford new metal!). Thanks to this, the repair took much longer. I am currently repairing a rusty culvert in my pond and have tried a number of HD and Lowe's products which have been a waste of time. For best results, tap/scrape/wire brush rust and layered scale from area to be repaired and use a motorized wire roller to really get at it. Before application, clean the area with a solvent such as paint thinner, lacquer thinner or xylene - this is a water-based product that may repel dirt, oil or grease. You'll see those little bumps as you apply it - just keep working with the material, it will cover. Use two layers. Bless Revain for making the real stuff so easy to find and easy to get.
