Review on πŸ”΅ Flexible Blue Filament Tolerance by YOYI by Maurice Harvey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Flexible but not elastic (stretchable); prints beautifully once you learn the tricks.

This filament is flexible but not elastic, which is strange because the filament itself is elastic but the printed objects are not. For example, if you have printed a drinking straw in "vase mode". ", the result behaves like a real drinking straw - you can easily squeeze it with your fingers or bend it in half, but like a plastic straw, you can't stretch it. (By the way, don't use this to make straws, it's not food safe, first things first: Inadequate extrusion was fixed when I realized that the filament* itself is somewhat stretched and sometimes stretches and jumps during printhead movements without advancing the filament spool - resulting in underextrusion led. This was fixed by installing a spool holder with low friction ball bearings so that even the slightest tug on the filament now turns the spool rather than stretching the filament.Other issues in Simplify3D I have overcome with the following settings (all other settings on Leave default for 0.40mm nozzle, starting with PLA at medium quality): Extruder tab: Final Runout, 0 .20mm; Wipe nozzle, 5 mm (helped with drops) Temperature: primary extruder, layer temperature 1 250 Β°C (this solved the layer adhesion problem) Cooling: layer fan level 1 0 (actually the fan does not cool at all; again for adhesion) Advanced : perform retraction during movement . Avoid crossing yourself when moving. The last two settings helped with drips and tension respectively. I was kind of shocked that I had to crank the temp that high and forego cooling altogether, but until I did that the vertical layers just didn't adhere properly, especially when building something at a 45 degree angle. simply sag and fall past the previous layer. By getting it really hot, each new layer stuck to the last one. After these settings were dialed in, it printed perfectly on my direct drive Qidi X-Plus. Bowden tube printers typically have a harder time handling flexible filaments. So remember that retracting is very helpful, and if you are still having trouble, try slowing down your print speed as well. (And check how your spool feeds!) If you like the principle of flexibility but not elasticity, and especially if you have a direct drive extruder, you should be very good at dialing it in and getting great prints!
