This door wiper was installed just 5 days ago and appears to be almost a vacuum type. I guess that's what we want, no drafts. That house is old; our door is old and a little warped, the frame is old and not quite square, the storm door was removed a few months ago and the inner door has been exposed to damp weather and moisture throughout the summer including the last five days. It may be swollen from moisture. We hope that the inner door will be easier to open in dry and cold months with the new storm door (perhaps after it has dried out a bit). The new storm door stays open and rain falls between the doors. It's a bit of an unusual situation to review this product but I really think it's a good product for the purpose and for the money. This gives the door a finished look both inside and out. Fast forward to January 2013. The effort required to open the door has decreased, possibly due to the cold or repetitive actions. There is also a very significant seal. But the decorative strip on the new sill is already wearing out due to the sweeping movement of the door brush. We used a finish recommended by a professional painter, so we don't think it's the finish. In the spring, a repaint is announced - oh joy! Also, the day after Christmas (we had 22 people during the day) I noticed condensation dripping all along the metal bar inside the room - so much it had to be wiped off. Also, a small portion of the lower fin began to detach, and it had to be cut off to stop tearing further. I'm afraid if this clearing doesn't work out over time, we've already cut out the door from below and may not be able to find another clearing that fits in the space. Experience is the best teacher!
