My daughter (10) bought these skates as her first set of skates. She loves them and has been using them almost every day for a month. Their only complaints were: - that the tongue isn't in the right position and likes to deviate from the laces no matter how tight she ties them - the toe stopper on one of the skates becomes loose - we have to tighten the screw every time we use it . Overall I am very satisfied with the product as a beginner skate. We weren't interested in buying high end skates unless I was sure they would give up quickly, but we were looking for something more than the adjustable skates they sell for younger kids. This pair is perfect for those needs.
