Review on Jensen MPR419Q 7 Character LCD Single DIN Car Stereo Receiver with Motorized Phone Mount, Qi Wireless Charging, Push to Talk Assistant, Bluetooth, and USB by Nick Henning

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Stereo is amazing! but the software/options are not impressive.

Bought to replace the stock stereo on my 2007 Saturn Ion because they recently changed the battery which caused the stereo to lose communication with the BCM and had to be reprogrammed by the dealer, so i decided to upgrade instead. So far I love this thing! The wireless charging pad is freaking awesome! Frees up my 12v outlet for other things and also frees up dash space from phone mounts, so it's a win-win. I also like the remote control on the steering wheel. It works for me, but I did notice that the small Bluetooth module on the side needs to be pointed at the radio to work stably, so I had to tilt the handlebar remote mount to tilt it a bit. It's okay, but I want them to send a stronger signal. The Bluetooth connection on the stereo works great, connecting to my phone very quickly and the signal is solid. As for the cons, I can only name a few: - no auto-dimming function via auto-wiring and no way to adjust the brightness of the display to anything. I don't really care as it's not blindingly bright at night, but it would still be a very nice feature. Lack of advanced setup features that might be needed in a subwoofer/amplifier setup. This would only require a software change. As mentioned, the Jlink app is EXTREMELY minimalist, but given the lack of customization options mentioned above, I really don't think it could be more advanced. It works well and makes it easy to change EQ settings on the fly, so I don't think that's a real downside. But definitely a missed opportunity for something amazing. Overall this item is amazing for the price and if I ever need to replace the stereo in another wrecked car I would definitely buy it again! Jensen just doesn't need to worry about the software anymore, they should offer an updated version of this device with some extra features!
