I bought these to remove the vinyl backing from a concrete floor. I've worked fine with a solid scraper blade, but when it became dull and I wanted to replace it I couldn't find an exact match, so I opted for these two-piece versions instead. Parts of dissimilar metal welded/riveted together by spot welding. The blade is a thinner piece of steel, while the keeper, the part with the star, is made of something stronger. I tried using them to remove the glue/epoxy that attached the vinyl to the concrete - the one piece blade removed it down to the concrete. These two piece blades broke almost immediately when I tried to use them to remove the vinyl backing and adhesive. I was stupid enough to buy 3 so I probably lost $45 instead of $15 on the ones I broke, but maybe they'll come in handy for a less important task. If you use a solid blade and get good results, they won't come close to the same strength or quality of this construction - just beware.
