KitchenAid KO160OHOBA Gourmet Strainer Review, 5" Black I haven't tested/measured it scientifically but it seems quite round to me, although in the product description It says "Oval". The mesh is quite fine, although the required or appropriate mesh size may vary depending on what is being sieved. The 5" (12.7 cm) diameter is probably accurate in relation to the diameter of the Bowl with the widest mesh. The mesh bowl is held by a ring making the outside diameter over 5" and the inside diameter under 5". The handle is approximately 4 7/8" (12.4 cm) long with a 1 7 /8" (4.8 cm) adapter attached to the bowl. The handle provides a good grip even with damp or wet hands. While the item appears to be well constructed, the design is such that even after air drying with a mesh shell some water (more than a few drops) came out when I picked it up. For this reason I would say that this item should not be washed in the dishwasher as soap can remain in it. It lowered my rating.
