This tool is likely to be well suited for its intended purpose of safely compressing springs for struts with or without a strut when there is enough room on each side of the compressed spring to fit tools with threaded rods. However, I found that to install a non-coilover coil spring in _my particular example_ (a 2003 Mustang with lowered tubular handlebars with deep spring pockets), the threaded rods were too long to fit in the space provided. for the upper spring plate and plate in the wishbone. I don't recommend anyone doing this (it's very unsafe, seriously not), but I ended up cutting off 3 inches of the threaded rod. With a shortened threaded rod, I was able to compress the spring, install it in the set range, press the control lever, and then turn off the spring compressor.
