Review on High-Quality 304 Stainless Steel Cornelius Keg Lid with Pressure Relief Valve - Perfect Replacement for Corny Keg Lid by Paul Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pressure test before first use - terrible leakage at weld

Initial Rating 1 Star: At first glance this was a good quality carbonating cap. However, from the attached video and photo, it can be seen that there is a very large leak under the ball lock post caused by poor welding on the underside of the carbonation cover. Can't believe the manufacturers don't pressure test them after welding the pins to the caps! Obviously this should be returned as I can't fix a leak like this. Let's see if a replacement is better as there are some good reviews on this item. I will send a message as soon as I receive it. Update: Revised 4 star rating: Replacement has arrived and this time undamaged. I put it in a tacky barrel and pressed it. It went through with no leaks and lasted 5 days. So I came to the conclusion that I advised the shipper to put the lid in the box and not in the envelope pocket. I now believe the unit was not poorly made and damaged in transit as the original batch carbonation post looked like it had been bent when a heavy load fell on it. Looking at some of the other negative reviews related to the leak, I'd say it's a common problem.
