Wonderful! with old Z87 mainboard

Okay, I have an old Asrock Z87 Extreme 6/ac motherboard (with 4th Gen CPU) with a regular SSD. My friend gave me a Samsung 970 PRO NVMe in a USB case. I couldn't access NVMe at all, I got a hardware error message, I thought the chassis or NVMe was faulty. Then I saw this little $15 adapter so I gave it a try but wasn't too keen on it because I didn't think it would work. Before getting the adapter I updated the BIOS (it was a BETA but I took a chance). As soon as I got the adapter and installed NVMe, and as soon as I turned on the computer, I immediately went into the BIOS and to my disbelief the adapter and NVMe were there as a BOOT option. Once I got into Windows, I installed Samsung Data Migration and cloned the NVMe in about 15 minutes. Shut down the computer, disconnect the SSD and boot to NVMe in about 13 seconds. If you have an older Z87 motherboard, this works like a charm. Make sure your latest BIOS supports NVMe and if you need to update your BIOS, erase or reset your old BIOS with CMOS.
