I was skeptical reading the reviews but I have to say this ice drill works very well with a cordless drill. Having seen and used disappointing gas drills over the years I have been interested in purchasing an electric drill. I would spend $500-$700 for a good electric drill but luckily I met a guy who used a similar drill powered drill similar to this one. Folks, this is the only way! My drill, a 20V Rockell brushless drill, shows 531 in-lbs of torque. This auger recommends a minimum of 725 in-lbs of peak torque, so I was a little worried I wouldn't have enough power to cut through the ice. As you can see in the video, Rockwell has a lot of power. Using a standard lithium-ion battery, I was able to cut through 9 inches of ice very quickly. I cut a few holes and there was still plenty of juice in the battery. You'll need a drill with a 1/2" chuck, but you can probably get an adapter if you only have a 3/8" chuck.
