I will only buy 2 biocarriers. This is one of them. I usually use it first, right after mechanical filtering. I do this because these pumice stones overlap and the water changes direction. It offers a final light mechanical filtering in case something gets through. Since it is a natural stone, it has many perfections and is very fickle. This is normal for me as it has proven itself as a biomedium and ultimate mechanical protection for the latest Biohome trays, which have great porosity and uniformity. Between the two environments, my tanks thrived. I don't want to pick just 1 as they have several exclusive benefits.
