Got this as the first pack of wood I've ever carved and the first 1x1x4 block was perfect, smooth to cut and never splintered.

The second block was a nightmare, with gray splotches and old wood grain throughout, so it splintered chunks off like crazy and was so hard that I wondered if my new knives were also junk.I have 10 other blocks that may or may not be as advertised, but if I'd randomly pulled that second block for my first project I'd have genuinely given up on this hobby in about an hour.*Updated tally now that I've worked with each block: 3 were good, 3 were iffy, and 6 were simply bad, including both large pieces.
