The old filter is sold by the distributor as a "premium" version, the A-550 MAX, which costs twice as much and does not come with a faucet. Got pros: The original filter with GFPP (glass filled polypropylene) bulbs, American Filmtec membrane and ceramic ball valve was very, very good. Has cons: Now that three letters STD have been added to the A-550 model number, a slightly different filter (with a predominance of Chinese components) is on sale, with regular polypropylene (PP) flasks and a Chinese membrane filter (Chinese Aspring instead of American Filmtec). The faucet also has a now cheaper, plastic cartridge. It should also be noted that its real appearance now does not match the picture on the box, since Chinese flasks have a different rib pattern.
