Looks great and protects baby
We have a 63" space near the top of our stairs and wanted something pretty that didn't need to be wall mounted. These extenders work great with collars to keep my 1 year old from harm. They're expensive, but they're metal, sturdy, and will last for years, so it's money well spent.
