A Pleasure to Use - Pencils

These professional quality watercolor pencils are great. The colors are bright and they are easily activated by water. They can be applied dry to paper and then dampened with a brush, or applied to paper with a pre-dampened pencil, or applied wet to damp paper, or applied by touching with a dampened brush, such as a palette. In all cases, the resulting watercolor is vibrant and versatile. If you apply them dry and then activate them with a brush, the pigment will dissolve completely, leaving no pencil marks. What can not be said about inexpensive watercolor pencils. After the watercolor dries, it becomes permanent. This means you can then apply other fills or details without smearing the first layer. The set of 60 pens gives you a good range of colors and by mixing you can create an endless color palette. Another bonus I find with the Faber Castell line of pencils is that the colors are the same across all products. This means that the color names and pigments for Albrecht Dรผrer's watercolor pencils are the same as for Polychromos oil pencils. The set, packed in a metal box, arrived safely. Pencils have a hexagonal body that prevents them from rolling on the table and makes them easier to hold. since I own both. Albrecht Dรผrer pencils are smoother and dissolve better than Derwent Inktense. Sometimes the lines made with the Inktense pen don't completely disappear when brushed with water, while the Albrecht Dรผrer dissolves perfectly. I like to use both brands of watercolor pencils. Both have bright colors and remain permanent after drying.
