Review on πŸ”₯ Enhance your connectivity with Belkin FireWire 6-Port Hub by Joel Mosqueda

Belkin is a name I still trust

Firewire 400 is getting harder and harder to find. I've read all the previous reviews and researched the Firewire brands in general. I had F5U526-APL. When I went to the Belkin website, the latest iteration was the F5U526-APL-S. I'm using the F5U526-APL as an active hub connected to a Quicksilver G4, an external Firewire DVD burner and an external Firewire drive. First when I turned on the new hub. The external firewire drive showed up as an unknown device. The burner installed with no problems. I immediately googled and found comments from other experienced Firewire users suggesting turning off the power and removing all cords and cables to reset the PMU. I followed her advice. I waited an hour and then turned everything back on. The Belkin Hub accommodates both an external Firewire drive and a burner. No more trouble. Let's see how long the Belkin Hub lasts. I expect it will perform better than an IoGear USB/Firewire hub that burned up its Firewire capacity in six months and then a year later burned out the entire USB hub that came with it.

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
