The reason I chose this dog seat is because it uses a car seat belt. After installation (super quick) and prolonged use in the car, it is much more stable than other car seats I have used in the last 12 years. Yes there was a small gap between my car seat and the dog seat, I folded the beach towel and the problem was solved. I attached the harness to the shoulder strap. Any dog will "suffocate" in any dog car seat (except a closed one) if you have a collar if it falls out. My dog is perfectly attached to his harness. Yes, that coated crispy foam feels insanely expensive. The foam immediately becomes pleasant. (was bothering me). I also thought a bit that the front wouldn't protect it from moving forward. but there's a lot of "lips" to stop (or put your head on). The little one takes the ALL front seat of my Jeep Cherokee. That's big. But my 7.5# dog is happy so am I happy. It was tested on a 15 hour drive. I wish there were outside pockets so I can store multiple poop bags. Maybe on more expensive models. For the moment I will not hesitate to buy a new one when this one wears out.
