Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Good Build Quality

During the recent construction of my new home in the Southeast Coast region of the USA, all the carpenters, frame, trim and roofers used pneumatic nail guns to speed up their work. Her nail guns greatly increased her efficiency. I was planning to build a barn on our property and was thrilled to be able to purchase and review this CRAFTSMAN framing nail gun. My compressor outputs 2.8cfm, which is more than enough to keep this nail gun going during quick use. The recommended air pressure is 70 to 120 psi. My testing was done with 100psi air pressure. Using 3 1/2 inch round head nails, all nails were driven securely and evenly into the carcass wood so that their heads were flush with or slightly below the surface of the wood without binding. The handy knurled adjustment on the front of the nail gun allows you to adjust the depth of the nail. This nail gun is clearly capable of doing its job well. Although I'm a fairly competent DIYer having worked with framing, carpentry and other woodwork for decades, the only experience I have with nails is watching professionals use them. Therefore I cannot make a detailed valid comparison of this nail gun with other brands. I can ONLY comment on the features I like. This nail gun is about the same size and weight as professional nail guns I've seen. Although I had no experience with a nail gun, I found this nail gun easy to load and use. The instructions were clear. It has some useful safety features that I welcome, including a trigger lock to prevent accidental firing. The shotgun's firing head has a soft finish that will not scratch the surfaces it is pressed against. 9mm pistol. I used hammers to do all my previous framing and carpentry work, and this nail gun will greatly speed up my work while reducing my effort on future projects. The recommended maintenance for this tool is to add a few drops of detergent-free oil to the air intake each day it is used. My air compressor is oil-free, so it doesn't automatically provide the recommended lubrication. As such, Craftsman has a rich history of producing value for money tools for hobbyists and professionals alike. Based on my experience with this nail gun, Craftsman has produced another winner.
