I had a previous Canon LiDE product (models 20 and 30 I think) and was quite happy with it. I recently replaced it with an HP printer/scanner combo. The printer died so I decided to ditch it and buy another flatbed scanner and returned to Canon knowing the scanner is USB powered (which is really cool). The scanner is good, high resolution, fast. The software is BAD! Lost connections, a poorly intuitive user interface and a dumb interactive shortcut that Canon probably spends most of its software on rather than doing something that just works. For the price and if you need to separate scanner and printer. This might be a good choice (most likely other scanners have bad software). Canon should offer an add-on for the scanner. As usual, Microsoft offered bad scanner software with Windows 10. You may have to do a lot of fiddling to get the Canon software to work on Windows 10 and regain the ability to scan multiple pages. in pdf format.
