The author has well described how AVG came into being. There was enough information about Chenault for the reader to understand his motives. Very good job personalizing the sacrifices made by humans. More attention could have been paid to the supply problems facing the group, and readers unfamiliar with the story may not understand the Regular Army Air Corps' hostility towards the "Tigers". It was also interesting to see how "swamp", to use the 1939-41 expression, resembles today's Washington DC.
