Too long for carb models

This part seems fine. I suppose it's better than a broken or frozen cable. The metal clip that holds the end of the cable to the Ford linkage pivot is shaped for easy installation; The problem is that you can automatically delete it when it's fully open. Plugging the ends of the clip will make it more difficult to install, but it will stay on the ball much more securely. I also used a Dremel circular cutter to create a better shaped pocket in the shaped plug. It will never be as secure as Ford's factory plastic plug. The real problem is that if you have a carbureted V8 model ('86 351 HO in my case), it takes a lot longer than you need to. I seriously have a 6-8 inch loop in the cable to make up for the extra slack. As far as I know this is the only cable available for 80-86 trucks and I'm guessing they made it long enough for an EFI model or maybe an inline 300.
