An interesting twist on the classic USB microscope. This model is battery operated and charges via a USB cable. It comes with a pretty good built-in 7 inch display. It can be connected directly to a PC, but also has a memory card slot for storing photos and videos, making it useful as a standalone device that doesn't require a PC to operate. The base is made of metal, as is the height adjustment. The rest is plastic, but the quality is normal. The microscope is fairly easy to zoom and focus with a little practice, and I was able to get clear images of circuit boards and small objects lying around. A great tool for quick inspection, and once you set it up for a specific object like a circuit board, no adjustment is needed for other blocks of the same size, making it a quick way of visual inspection at 500x magnification or more. Videos are recorded in Full HD, and photos can be up to 12 megapixels and look good, although they shrink a bit when saved to the card. The two lights help illuminate the subject and work quite well. Overall I'm happy with this device and it replaces an old computer microscope that started to fall apart over time. I really like the metal base and height adjustment, and it fits nicely on my workbench, making it easy and quick to use to inspect damaged circuit boards and other small items during repairs. Good product and seems like it will last a while if not abused too much. Simple enough for kids and a good entry-level microscope for almost anyone.
