I just needed a basic halter to ride where my horse lives. Within a couple of days he was able to get out without even breaking the detachable strap. I've tightened it but it still breaks out when it does. The piece that goes over his nose is very tough as you can see in the picture. I think it's softening up a bit. The tear strip is ok, but as I said it has NOT come loose. This is a good halter for the money but looks like I'll have to buy more since I have a Houdini halter. I've had the halter for over a month now and I've noticed that when the breakable part gets wet it creates a black mark. comes out. This should not happen as it is obvious that these halters will get wet.
