Review on Blackstone Grindstone Tormek Specifically High Speed by Michael Skerving

Great stone! in Hand Tools

So my first Blackstone had a large chip due to shipping so I had to send it back and order a replacement. After I installed it on my T-8, it sucked up just as much water as the original rock. So keep that in mind and keep an eye on the water level when you first use it. It worked just right without hesitation, and was perfectly round too. Compared to the original stone that came with the machine, it works much faster and leaves a very thin edge on the blade that requires minimal sharpening. I did not notice the stone wearing out faster than the original stone as others have written in their reviews. It's only $30 more expensive than the original stone and I'll say it works a lot better. I don't have to press down on the blade as hard and it's nice that the time to sharpen has been reduced by about half. I now use original stone for outdoor tools and hunting knives, and black stone for my kitchen knives with more expensive blades and more exotic (harder) steel alloys. I feel Blackstone gives me more control over the process and gives better results with more expensive knives.
